How Davidson Audio Packages Are Designed to Grow with Your Ride

Indian riders always want better sound from their motorcycle but feel unsure about where to start. A full audio build can seem complicated. Large systems with multiple speakers, amplifiers, and wiring upgrades may look overwhelming at first. At Davidson Audio, we solve that problem by designing packages that grow with your ride.

Our upgrade path is simple. You can start with a small improvement and build from there over time. Each stage of the system builds on the one before it, so nothing is wasted or has to be replaced later. This approach protects your investment while making each upgrade feel clean and professional. We design our systems specifically for Indian Motorcycle touring models. Whether you ride an Indian Challenger, Pursuit, Chieftain, Roadmaster, or Springfield, our packages are built for real-world riding conditions. They are designed to overcome wind noise, engine sound, and the limits of factory audio.

You Don’t Have to Build the Whole System at Once

One of the most common questions we get asked is if you have to buy everything at once to upgrade your motorcycle audio. The answer to that is no, as our systems are designed in stages. You can begin with a two-speaker upgrade and expand later as your needs change. Many customers start with a fairing speaker upgrade because it delivers the biggest improvement right away. From there, additional speakers can be added to increase depth and coverage. This staged approach makes the upgrade process easier. It also helps riders spread out the cost of a full system over time.

What Comes in a 2-Speaker Fairing Package

A two-speaker fairing package is the starting point for many riders. It replaces the factory fairing speakers with higher-performance components designed to handle highway riding. These packages typically include upgraded fairing speakers, a properly matched amplifier, and a DSP (Digital Signal Processor). The DSP allows precise tuning, so the sound remains clear even at highway speeds. Wind and engine noise can make factory systems sound thin or weak. DSP tuning corrects these problems by shaping the sound before it reaches the speakers.

The package also includes pre-soldered and pre-tuned harnesses. These harnesses simplify the installation process and protect the motorcycle’s wiring system. Instead of cutting into factory wires, the system connects cleanly.

How Each Stage Builds on the Last

Once the two-speaker system is installed, you can expand the system later without starting over. That is the key advantage of our staged design. The amplifier and wiring are already prepared for additional speakers. When you decide to expand the system, simply add new components that connect to the existing setup.

For example, the next step may include lower fairing speakers, which add more volume and depth while directing sound toward the rider. Later upgrades may include saddlebag lid speakers for stronger bass and wider sound coverage. Touring riders may eventually add tour pack speakers to complete a full multi-speaker system. Each stage integrates with the previous upgrade. No earlier components need to be removed or replaced so the system grows naturally as your needs change.

Why Staged Upgrades Beat Buying Parts Individually

Some customers consider buying individual parts and building their system piece by piece. While that may seem flexible at first, it often creates problems later. Many aftermarket components are not designed to work together. Amplifiers may not match the speakers correctly. Wiring harnesses may require cutting or modification. Tuning may become difficult without the right DSP configuration.

Our packages solve these problems by designing the system as a complete package. Every component is selected to work together. Speakers, amplifiers, wiring, and DSP tuning are matched for the specific motorcycle model. This also saves time and money in the long run. When you buy parts individually, these parts often get replaced  later because it no longer fits the system design. With staged packages, every upgrade builds on the last one and your earlier investment remains part of the final system. The result is a professional installation that feels planned from the beginning rather than assembled piece by piece or cobbled together.

PowerPlus and Thunderstroke: One Philosophy, Two Platforms

Indian touring motorcycles come in two major platform families: the PowerPlus and the Thunderstroke platforms. Each platform has its own design and acoustic characteristics. Speaker placement, engine tone, and fairing structure all affect how your new sound behaves. Because of this, our packages are engineered separately for each platform.

The Powerplus platform covers the Challenger and Pursuit from year model 2020-2026 with the second generation of Ride Command. Thunderstroke models include the 2017-2026 Chieftain and Roadmaster, but in 2025 Indian began introducing these models to the Powerplus lineup as well. Based on your specific year model under the Thunderstroke platform, your bike could have either the first or second generation Ride Command.

What Factory Speakers and Powerband Can’t Do

Many Indian touring bikes include the Indian Powerband Audio system integrated with Ride Command. These systems offer convenience and basic sound control. For casual riding, they work well enough. However, factory speakers are designed to meet general expectations. They are not built for sustained highway performance. Wind noise increases quickly at higher speeds. Engine noise also affects how sound travels around the motorcycle and rider.

As a result, factory systems often struggle to maintain clarity when riding on open highways. Riders may increase the volume, but the sound becomes strained or distorted. An aftermarket motorcycle audio system solves this problem by using stronger components and more precise tuning. Our systems use high-efficiency speakers, properly matched amplifiers, and DSP tuning designed specifically for motorcycle acoustics.

Many of our packages also use components from respected audio manufacturers such as Cicada Audio, Hertz Audio, NVS Audio, Ground Zero, and Soundigital, all known for producing equipment built for demanding riding conditions. When these elements work together, the difference becomes clear. Music remains balanced and strong even when riding at highway speed.

Davidson Audio is Ready When You Are

Upgrading your motorcycle audio should feel exciting, not stressful. Our staged package approach allows you to start small and expand your system when the time is right. A touring rider planning long-distance travel may eventually want a larger system with multiple speakers. Others may prefer to keep things simple with a clean two-speaker upgrade. Both options are supported by the same system design.

The important thing to remember is that you do not need to build the entire system at once. Each upgrade stage is designed to stand on its own while preparing the audio system for future improvements. At Davidson Audio, we specialize in precision-tuned audio upgrades built specifically for Indian motorcycles. Our packages are engineered for highway clarity and designed for real-world road conditions. When you are ready to improve the sound of your ride, our systems are ready to grow with you.
